Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 29 July 2026
This policy explains when a payment for The Exam Brief's one-time three-year Portal access is refundable, and how to request a refund. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions.
1. Why access is non-refundable after activation
The Exam Brief sells digital access to study material that is delivered in full and immediately on activation. Once you can open the Content, the value of the purchase has been delivered and cannot be returned. This is why an ordinary purchase is non-refundable after activation, and why we do not provide pro-rated refunds for unused time.
Activation occurs only when the payment is verified and working paid-Portal access is actually granted to your account. Payment capture by itself is not activation.
Free sample notes are published on the site so that you can judge the format, depth, and style before paying. We encourage you to read them first.
2. Cancellation and renewal
The purchase is a one-time payment and does not create an automatic recurring charge. There is no subscription to cancel and nothing will be auto-debited. Renewal is optional and manual. Renewing early adds three years from the existing expiry date.
You may stop using the Platform or ask us to close your account at any time. Closing an account does not by itself create a right to a refund of an activated purchase.
3. When we will refund
We will review and, where the claim is valid, refund payments in these cases:
- Duplicate charge — you were charged more than once for the same access period.
- Failed-payment debit — money was debited but the payment was not successfully completed and no access was granted.
- Failed access — a verified payment did not produce working paid access and we could not restore access within two business days.
- Incorrect amount — you were charged an amount different from the displayed plan price due to an error on our side.
- Unauthorised transaction — a payment was made from your account without your authorisation, subject to verification and to the outcome of any investigation by Razorpay or your bank.
4. When we will not refund
- change of mind, or deciding after activation that you no longer need the material;
- not using, or not having time to use, the access you bought;
- dissatisfaction with exam results, scores, ranks, or selection outcomes;
- loss of access caused by your breach of our Terms & Conditions, including account sharing or attempts to bypass the device limit;
- problems caused by your own device, browser, or internet connection that are outside our control.
5. How to request a refund
Email admin@theexambrief.com from your registered email address within seven days of the charge, and include:
- your full name and the email address on the account;
- the Razorpay payment or order reference, and the date and amount of the charge;
- a short description of the problem, with a screenshot if you have one.
Support hours are Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 18:00 IST (excluding public holidays). We acknowledge refund requests within two business days and tell you our decision, with reasons, within seven business days of receiving the information above.
6. How approved refunds are paid
Approved refunds are processed through Razorpay and returned to the original payment method. We cannot refund to a different card, account, or UPI ID. Our normal processing time is 5 to 7 working days from approval, after which the timing depends on your bank or payment network. Refunds are made in Indian Rupees for the amount charged; any bank or currency-conversion charges applied by your own bank are not within our control.
Where a refund is approved, the associated paid access is withdrawn from the account.
7. If you disagree with our decision
If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may escalate to our grievance officer, Umar Khan, at admin@theexambrief.com. We acknowledge grievances within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within 30 days of receipt. This does not affect your rights under applicable consumer-protection law.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version in effect on the date of your purchase, shown by the “Last updated” date above, is the one that applies to that purchase.
